Day 6 (Seattle) Today we were going to spend the day learning how to cook from an awesome grand-uncle who can make that dim sum stuff I mentioned. That food is deceptively hard to cook, and after my abysmal attempt to do it on my own, we figured getting help from somebody who actually knew what he was doing might be a good idea. XDDD My granduncle, who is not blood related, unfortunately (no chance of inheriting wicked cooking skills, huh?), came to the US from Hong Kong when he was 50. Day 5 (Seattle) So, I guess I don't have to go over this day too much; this was the day that I managed to sneak over to the local library to spend some quality time with the Interwebz. :heart: We also had "dim sum" for breakfast, which is a special kind of Cantonese brunch that features very specific (and yummy) dishes. Most of these are pretty standard, run-of-the-mill stuff for me since I love dim sum food and hunt it down wherever I go. XD But for the curious, I had: gai lan, which is a Chinese vegetable that looks and tastes like a cross between spinach, asparagus, and broccoli, haw gao, which is a big lump of shrimp in a steamed rice-

Day 4 (Seattle) Today the only plans we had was a big dinner at a restaurant, so we had the day pretty much to ourselves. I got to sleep in late, and then my mom decided to go for a walk, so we headed out to Cougar Mountain Park for a quick hiking trip. That was especially nice after being stuck in a car for six hours to and from Canada. ^^; And I have to say, that park is GREEN. I thought it was going to be kind of lame, because my fashionista, not-very-athletic aunt likes to run there, which made me think it would be easy.
